It is with great satisfaction I issue this message on the occasion of the National Ceremony marking the successful completion and commissioning of One Thousand roads developed under the “Maga Neguma” project.
There are several special reasons for this. As the subject Minister in charge of Highways, the “Maga Neguma” project was started by me. Until then there was no special state investment for rural roads.
Most villages were isolated from the main economic stream due to non-availability of approach roads and the main objective of “Maga Neguma” was to provide connecting links. For this purpose state investment was quadrupled during the last two years.
The challenge before “Maga Neguma” is to create a sustainable road network and I am firmly convinced that all connected with the project have the strength to meet it.
